Our Products

Our products enable manufacturing practices that produce higher yields, increased purity, reduced energy usage and waste generation and improved efficiency, as compared to traditional chemical methods. Our work has been recognized by the US EPA with three Green Chemistry Challenge Awards for improving the sustainable manufacturing of multiple blockbuster drugs. Our newest technology, the Enzyme Catalyzed Oligonucleotide (ECO) Synthesis™ manufacturing platform, has the potential to fundamentally disrupt the RNAi therapeutics manufacturing landscape by addressing key sustainability challenges inherent to traditional chemical synthesis methods.

Environmental Footprint

As a champion of sustainable manufacturing practices, we look for opportunities to collaborate with our business partners to advance research and innovation with the purpose of attaining better health for people and the planet. Currently, we are in the process of examining significant aspects of our direct and indirect GHG emissions inventory. Where possible, insights from this process are being leveraged to optimize product development and manufacturing. Further, we have water management practices in place as we strive to minimize our water usage, and we have implemented safety procedures for handling and disposing of waste to comply with applicable laws and protect the safety of our employees and the environment.

Our People

Health & Safety

We prioritize maintaining a safe and healthy workplace for our employees, with our policies and practices playing a key role in protecting our employees and the surrounding communities in which we operate. Codexis conducts a process safety review to assess new products that enter our sites, including products’ effects on personnel safety, chemical hazard, and building capability. We also maintain an active safety management program, including all OSHA-required safety procedures related to our work, to reduce the risk of workplace injuries, illnesses, and deaths.

Professional Development
& Attraction

At Codexis, we understand that our people drive our business, and our ability to attract, motivate, and retain top talent is what has allowed us to become the leading enzyme engineering company we are today. We offer several programs related to recruiting and retaining top-tier talent, including those focused on professional development and leadership, and employee recognition. We also provide competitive compensation and benefits programs. We continuously engage with our employees to seek their feedback and look for opportunities to enhance the employee experience at Codexis.

Diversity, Equity & Inclusion

As a company built on innovation, we seek new and diverse opinions that challenge the status quo. Diverse backgrounds and experiences are important factors in this equation. We strive for equity and inclusion within our employee community, working diligently to cultivate a culture where everyone feels free to be themselves at work. To create an inclusive environment for all, we are collaborating with innovative companies such as MESH Diversity. Today, women occupy over half (55%) of our technical roles and over one-third (45%) of our leadership positions.*
